Comfort Zone

Panel 1: Jillian is still driving through the night and talking to Gael on the phone.
Gael: “I’ll send you his number and let him know you’re coming.”
Jillian: “Thank you. I appreciate it.”
Panel 2: Jillian’s expression turns sad and sympathetic. “...how are you doing?”
Gael: “...I... don’t know.”
Panel 3: In a different location, a man is staring out of a large castle window overlooking either a river or ocean inlet framed by trees in fall colors. The sky is blue with a few clouds, and sunlight streams in around him. He is white and very thin with straight brown hair down to his neck, and is wearing a thin, dark blue robe that is slipping slightly down his shoulders. He stands with his back to us, cradling a glass of red wine in his left hand and holding a cellphone to his ear with his right.
Jillian, through the phone: “I’m sorry I’m not there with you, Gael.”
Gael: “Oh, no, you have young ones to look after. Best not take them too far out of their comfort zone.”
Jillian: “You mean like you did with me?”
Panel 4: The scene returns to Jillian driving and looking concerned.
Gael: “That was unavoidable.”
Jillian: “Really though, are you okay?”
Gael: “...I will be better soon. James and Anuli are coming to help me take care of things.”
Jillian: “Oh, good.”
Panel 5: Jillian: “Listen, if there’s anything at all you need-”
Gael: “I know, ma chère sœur. Take care of your new family. I’ll be in touch.”
