Panel 2: Darrell looks away from him, looking uncertain and a little sad.

Panel 3: Taylor: “It’s okay if you don’t want to tell me.”

Darrell, head lowered so his hair covers his eyes: “It was a car accident.”

Panel 4: A wide shot in sepia to suggest a memory. A car is upside down surrounded by grass and trees, with a puff of smoke rising from where the hood would be. Over this Darrell narrates: “There was something in the road. Dad flipped the car. He and my mom, they… they uh… y’know, they didn’t… It was bad.”

Panel 5: Darrell, still looking away with a slight shine in his eyes: “A-Anyway, Jillian… I don’t remember her showing up, but she was there, and, uh...”

Panel 6: The same scene in sepia but pulled back, a view from across the road. In the foreground is Jillian, her back to us, looking over the wreck. “She saved me.”
